My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there! I'm Oreo---that's right, sweet is my name and lovin' is my game. Best guess on my lineage is possibly American Bulldog and, perhaps, Boston Terrier. Whatever my breeding it makes for a loyal, affectionate combination. My family loved me but couldn't afford to feed me so I spent my days begging from the neighbors. My family also couldn't go my bail when I was picked up by animal control while I was roaming the neighborhood begging for food. By that time I had a family of my own---a litter of six--even though I was practically still a pup myself. I was skin and bones with not much in between.

It was a high-kill shelter so our incarceration had all the signs of a one-way trip for me and the pups. Fortunately my previous owners knew Lisa of CARE, Inc. and begged her to save our lives. Lisa took us all in and has kept us safe and well-fed through the winter. Everyone brags about my good, solid, laid-back personality and my love of all people and critters. No one has tested me with cats yet, but heck, I'm roomies with a chihuahua and a nippy little dachshund---roll with the flow, I say. Take it from someone who knows------a bad start in life can sour you or make you look harder for the bright side. It's a choice. Instead of dwelling on how rough I've had it, I'm grateful that my family cared enough to love me and socialize me when I was little, then ask Lisa for help to save my life when they couldn't. I'm soooo grateful for Lisa and her volunteers. Now I'm optimistic that the best is yet to come. I need a family to love. I'll romp with your wildest boys and rowdiest dogs. I'll curl up and comfort your littlest and weakest. Your teen can weep into my neck about how unfair life is. Believe me, I know about that. I'm just over a year old, so we have many years to enjoy together. Take another look at my pics and see if we connect. Hoping to hear from you soon!
