INDIA JADE

Let me tell you about one of the sweetest and kindest dogs you’ll ever meet. India Jade (I call her Indi for short) was brought into rescue because her owner could no longer keep her for personal reasons, and I could tell immediately that she has been well taken care of and well-loved in her 10 years, actually she turned 10 recently, in fact she’s a Christmas baby/puppy as she was born on December 25th.
She is so gentle and sweet with my dog Maddie and crazy cat Buddy, she respects their space but also likes to hang out with them. She lived with cats and another dog, a small dog, before she came into foster care.
Indi is used to a work schedule and I’m away from home at least 9 hours a day and she does great. And when you come home at the end of the day she has to grab a toy and meet you at the front door, wagging her whole body as if to say “welcome home, glad you’re back!” She has full reign of the house without any issues, she likes to sleep in my bedroom at night and you don’t hear a peep out of her, you can tell she is also used to a bedtime schedule.
She is super loving, she just wants to be with her people and she doesn’t demand much except to be petted and loved on. She is great at meal time, I feed her and my dog in the kitchen together and there have been no issues. She eats her food and doesn’t try to go after my dog’s food, she has perfect manners. She takes treats well, she might appear grabby but she’s not, it just looks like it, she has a very “soft mouth” when taking them. She has no issues with counter surfing or going into the trash. She doesn’t jump up on people, she just wants to be with them. I don’t have any children but her owner said she loves them, the neighborhood kids used to come over and play with her. I do think she would be best suited though in a family without really young children, not that she would ever hurt them, I just mean that a toddler could possibly be too rough with her, and she is a senior lady after all. Not that she acts like a senior, somebody must have forgotten to tell her she’s 10 because she is very playful, she likes to play tug-o-war, and she likes to carry toys around in her mouth when she’s prancing, so don’t let her little white face fool you.
Did I mention she likes to prance? She’s kind of dainty about it, like a true “lady”. That’s another thing that’s great about her because although she likes to go for long walks and play with her toys and she runs around the yard exploring and being silly, she also likes to “chill out” so she’d be a great companion for a homebody as well.
She does pretty well on a leash, she pulls a little but it’s not something that can’t be controlled; I think she is just excited to go for a walk. She rides well in the car and has no issues getting in and out of it. India is the type of dog who gets along great with everyone, human and fur, she loves everybody. In just two days my grouchy cat was sleeping in his bed on the floor right in front of her, he was relaxed and knew she was a gentle dog and wouldn’t hurt him, that right there shows you how kind she is.
She doesn’t try to get up on the furniture, but she does like to sleep in her bed, or on the carpeted areas. She doesn’t mind my brushing her and from what her previous owner told me in a letter, she does very well at the groomers. She is totally housebroken, she hasn’t had any accidents since she’s been with me. She knows basic commands such as sit, stay, down and come. She definitely listens to you and is eager to please.
So, if you would like to meet this lovely dog you won’t be disappointed. She has the typical Golden Retriever personality, and there’s literally nothing negative I can say about her, she’s a perfect “10” in my book.
