My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Audrey is a 3 year old Shih Tzu mix. She came from a puppy mill but instead of living her life in a cage she was loose to run on the farm. What a difference that makes!

Audrey is fun, funny and very sweet. She is crate and house trained. She loves other dogs and LOVES to play. She is good with people she meets and has been around and played with older children. We think she would do fine in a home with children 10 or older.

Audrey needs another playful dog in the home. She LOVES her play time and her toys. Audrey is very affectionate. She loves to go for walks and go in the car. She sleeps in bed. Audrey weighs about 14 pounds and is well behaved at the groomer's.

Audrey's adoption requires someone who is home more than an 8 hour work day allows; someone that works from home, works part time or is retired. She requires a fenced yard and another playful dog in the home. She will do best in a family that is fairly active and likes to include their dog in their activities.

Star -Mar takes dogs into rescue that suffer from an excess of toxins in their system from over vaccinations, flea and heart worm commercial "preventatives" and improper diet. We would like to see a different and more healthy approach to the care of dogs. We ask that dogs adopted from Star-Mar be fed a no grain diet, are on the three year vaccination program at a minimum - blood titters preferred, live in homes that use no commercial neurotoxic flea preventative. If using a heart worm treatment that you not dose year around, when treating to extend dosing to every 6 weeks as suggested by holistic vets and to use milk thistle at the time of dosing to help support the dog's liver. We ask that you use no fertilizers or weed killers in the area of your yard where your dog is allowed nor the use of chemicals in your laundry or in your cleaning supplies.

We are hoping that with knowledge and a less chemical approach to the care of your dog that we can assist you in having your dog as a healthy member of your family into their late teens. We understand and respect that not everyone is interested in caring for their dog like this. We ask that if you are contacting us about any of our dogs that you are willing to care for your dog in this more holistic manner.

If you feel that your environment, lifestyle and care practices fit with Audrey's needs please contact Martha at learymjri@aol.com or call 330-262-0515 or 330-466-3667 to ask questions or request an application. We strive to place a dog in your home that will be a healthy member of your family for many years to come.
