My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bought about 8 years ago for her owner to ride with his girlfriend. As sometimes happens, the romance lasted but a few years and he stopped riding her at all. Exit the girlfriend along with his interest in this beautiful mare. After that the owner took her on some few trail rides in Annadel State Park and elsewhere, but then stopped riding her at all. Another young lady then began to ride Gem occasionally and Gem responded beautifully and willingly.

After a concerned horseman contacted the absentee owner, the owner chose to surrender Gem to SERRA for re-homing rather than to the auction yards to slaughter. We applaud his decision.

All Gem needs now is a tune up and to be ridden with love, language and leadership.

Due to recent life changes, Gem's adopter has recently surrendered this pretty quarter horse mare back to SERRA. We thank her for the responsibility she showed for Gem, and wish her well in all future aspects of her life—we know giving Gem back was not an easy choice for her, and took courage and care. But it was the right choice, at the right time for both the adopter and for Gem.
Sweet, very well trained, good trail riding horse and perfect for a beginning rider going up in training levels. She's beautifully bred and a very strong and healthy riding mare. Gorgeous, lovely ground manners, trailers easily and is an all rounder. Highly trained. Responsive to the riders hands and legs, a light touch and a very dependable trail horse. Poco Bueno and Doc Bar sensible mind and athleticism. She's perfectly suited to be your gentle teacher. 15 hand, perfect size, DOB 1995. In excellent health.

Neck reins, western jog and light to the aids.

Who wouldn’t want a reliable and trustworthy horse?

Yes, Gem is a true Jewel.
