My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi guys, my name is Lainey. I’m a 5 years old and I am a White Poodle mix. I am not sure what I am mixed with. I have a creamy white & beige coat that’s curly; my coat & my smile makes me unique! I was found as a stray in Aurora and brought to their kill shelter. Nobody knows where I came found. I was sitting at that shelter waiting & waiting until a nice lady called an IAR Rescuer found me. I was so happy! See, some people did come to see me at the shelter but I wasn’t so pretty. My hair was really dirty & matted. Plus I was really scared and growled a little. But the shelter people worked with me where I could trust people and I came around. Then when day when the IAR Rescuer came, my Angel, I was all pretty; I got a haircut and I was really perky. I was so happy to get out of my cage that I gave her kisses and was all over her lap with happiness. That car ride to my foster home was like my Freedom Ride. I kept looking out the car window looking at everything. I feel so safe at my foster home. Here, I have some dogs I can play with and I boy do I like to play. I play with the dogs – big & small. And when the dogs don’t want to play, I play with my toys. I can keep myself entertained by playing with my squeaky toys. I try to get my foster Mom to play with me especially if it’s fetch. I like to play with my squeaky ball. I am not motivated by treats but you can get me excited by my toys. After a while, my foster Mom got me introduced to some new people and I am really shy and insecure. It takes me awhile to warm up to people. It’s better if it is at my own speed. My foster Mom saw that I needed some help. Maybe someone in my past hurt me so she got me some help. He was called a Dog Psychologist. We called him “Coach”. His Boot Camp taught me how to trust people. I liked him. He exposed me to new places and new people. It takes me awhile to warm up to new people but once I know you’re not going to hurt me I will be your BF forever & ever. Especially if you have toys. I like to spend my days hanging out on a couch just lounging or looking out the window and I like to play in the backyard. I walk pretty well on my leash. Want to know a secret too? I can jump pretty high. So maybe I can learn some agility. That might be fun. I’m good with other dogs but because I have some trust issues right now my foster Mom is saying “caution” on me with small kids and I have never been around cats. When you come meet me my introduction will be different that other dogs but I hope you can see past that. I am a sweet girl that is funny, quirky and I even might smile at you! I just need someone to give me a chance to have my own forever home again and someone to love me. I am a real special girl – my foster Mom knows that and same with my Coach, I just hope you can too. Please call, ok??? Kisses, Lainey.
