My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Velma! This little sweetheart is much like the character from Scooby Doo- smart and spunky! She also has the cutest underbite. She is a fun dog in a little package.

At just a year old and 9lbs, she loves to explore and has some puppy energy. However, she also wears herself out easily. She has a blast walking around the neighborhood and smelling all the new scents, and playing with other dogs, but then is just as content laying on you and napping.

It took Velma no time to warm up to new people and once she does, she just wants to shower you with love and kisses. In fact, her favorite thing to do is to run into her foster parents' laps and give them kisses. She has taken to men pretty easily and loves women!

Because Velma is still so young, we recommend taking her to obedience school to learn the basics, but she is taking well to corrections and learning basic commands at her foster home.

Velma gets along great with her foster brothers and sister (all dogs). We are not sure how she is with cats. Velma seems to love all humans, but we would advise keeping a close eye around young children. We believe Velma is housetrained if maintained on a strict schedule and we are working on her crate-training.

If you are interested in finding out more about Velma, please fill out an application. Velma is being fostered in Maynard, MA. The adoption fee is $375.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
