A few words from me:

Hi! My name is Lenny and I am a three-year old chocolate “tweenie”. A “tweenie” is a dachshund that is bigger than a miniature and smaller than a standard… somewhere right in the middle. Not too long ago, I was found roaming the streets, in the bitter cold, and I was brought to my new CDR foster family. Overnight my life changed for the better: I get lots of kisses and belly rubs, I have foster siblings who share their toys with me, and I am never hungry. When I’m not busy cuddling with my foster mom, I like spying on the squirrels by the patio doors, and chewing on a good bone. I also love going for walks -- not even the cold can stop me from enjoying exercise! Some other of my favourite activities include destroying squeaky toys and playing fetch. My foster mom says that I’ll have a ‘forever family’ soon. If you see them, would you please tell them that I’m ready?

And now a few words from my foster family:

Lenny is an outgoing, friendly and happy little guy that never runs out of love to give. His tail is always wagging! He is very playful and energetic so he would thrive with an active family. He would even be a great candidate for flyball or agility training! Lenny gets along with all dogs, but he would also do well in a family where he is the only pet, as the thing he loves most is spending time with his humans. He has never been introduced to cats. This young boy is currently being fostered in an apartment. He is generally a quiet dog, but like most dogs, he will bark at noises in the hallway or if someone knocks at the door. If necessary, his barking can be controlled with a citronella collar. Lenny is mostly housetrained and does very well on a schedule. He doesn’t know any commands at this time. He would love to learn new skills through obedience classes or training sessions with his new family. Lenny has arthritis, which is occasionally exacerbated by his high level of activity. He may require medication in the future to help him as he ages. Feeding him a high-quality dog food and adding joint supplements to his diet will likely be beneficial. Lenny is ready for his forever home. Every ounce of love you give him will be reciprocated, and then some!
