My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rita is a lovely and well socialized older Collie. She was cherished in her former home by someone who loved her very much. We believe she was a show dog as a youngster and maintained that way most of her life. When I picked Rita up At the Hayward Animal Services Bureau she was clean, very well groomed, whiskers clipped, de-barked, and one ear tipped over. She was beautiful.

It was so difficult for us to believe Rita was picked up by animal services as a stay found standing in front of a supermarket. When Rita came up for adoption on 6/27/2008 no one claimed her. I picked her up on 7/2/2008. Rita (Ms. Hayward) is a delight. We believe she is 7- 9 years old. Not only is she beautiful and well socialized, she is somewhat small, but could benefit from losing a few pounds. Rita has nuclear sclerosis in both eyes, which does not require surgery, but sees relatively well. Rita is spayed, is heartworm negative, has been given her first Interceptor while being fostered and is up to date on her shots. Rita is on a senior kibble.

Rita gets along with our Collies very well, but as a senior she does not play with our young Collies. Rita prefers to nap, eat, and loves to travel in the car. Rita would do best in a home that allows plenty of time for rest and relaxation. Another dog is optional. But, Rita loves brief walks 2-3 times a day and a shady yard for lounging. Posted 07.15.08
