My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Jessie (6 – 8 mo) and I am a lovely girl, very loving and very lonely. I have to live in isolation here at the shelter because I am a FeLV cat. I can live in a home with other FeLV cats or be the only cat. If I am well looked after and fed good quality food and loved I can live a very long and health life. Please consider me as your forever cat. I am dewormed, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and litter box trained. Please call the adoption line at 705-458-9038 to come and visit me. Jessie's adoption fee will be waived for the right owner.

What does FeLV do to a cat?
Feline leukemia virus adversely affects the cat's body in many ways. It is the most common cause of cancer in cats, it may cause various blood disorders, and it may lead to a state of immune deficiency that hinders the cat's ability to protect itself against other infections. The same bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi that may be found in the everyday environment—where they usually do not affect healthy animals—can cause severe illness in those with weakened immune systems. These secondary infections are responsible for many of the diseases associated with FeLV.
