My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ - Due to the nature of our adoption process, this foster is only able to consider forever families within 20 miles of zip code 75033. A vet reference and trial adoption will be done before the adoption is finalized. Thank you for your understanding.

Estimated date of birth 2/13/2014

This beautiful young girl is Lacey. Lacey came to us because her owner moved into a nursing home. Sadly, her owner was told that he could have her, but once they moved in, the nursing home told him that Lacey was too big. Her owner asked the nursing home employees to help find her a home, and that is how she ended up with Furry Friends.

Lacey is a 55 lb Great Pyrenees mix. Although we do not know what she is mixed with, she does have the double dew claws notable on the Great Pyrenees breed. She is only two years old, so she has a long life ahead of her. Her foster mom is a cat foster and normally does not foster dogs, but she fell in love the moment she saw Lacey. Lacey has had no problem fitting into her foster home. She does great with her foster family's flat coated retriever and has absolutely no reaction to the cats in her foster home. She, however, is not fan of smaller dogs. If there is another dog in the home, the dog has to be her size or bigger. She would also be fine as an only dog as that is what she is used to.

Lacey is housebroken and will go to the door when she wants out. She's very calm and laid-back in the house, but does love to run around the backyard to get some exercise. She must go to a home that has a fenced yard so that she can have the space to run. Lacey is very well behaved, but does not seem to have any formal obedience training. Her foster mom has been working on "sit" and "down", but she would really benefit from more formal training once she is in her forever home. She is great with kids and does not get hyper or jump on people. She also walks very well on a leash. Lacey is all-around a great girl. She's confused as to why she is in a new home, but has adjusted phenomenally. Lacey has totally won over the heart of her foster mom. She will make a great family member for the right family. Is that family yours?

Anyone interested in our dogs must be over 21. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors. Our adoption fee for dogs is $175. You can complete an online adoption application on our website http://www.furryfriendsanimalrescue.org- we will get back with you asap.
