Nikko was taking in from a bad situation where I am sure he was exposed to some unkind people. He was kept strictly outside with a small Dachsund, and fed out an automatic container. He is still very obese and has entropia (eyelid disorder). We are trying to get some of his weight off before neutering and doing surgery on his eyes. We feel that once he drops some weight, his eye issue may correct itself.
This dog is for the experienced owner only. He did live with two children in his last home and was around his owners nephew a lot as well. He seems uncomfortable with men at first and feels the need to protect items. He will guard special bones, but days later treats them as another toy. He just needs someone that can handle a large stubborn dog that needs a little direction. As most Rottweilers, he has a natural instinct to protect and will alert you to strange noises or people outside the home. He does plays great with his foster siblings, one little girl in particular, but does not like dominant and pushy male dogs. He is bouncy and silly and loves to roll around in the grass, and even the dirt RIGHT after his bath. Very affectionate and listens pretty good when you tell him to stay out of an area or to stop something.
Nikko is going to need a special home and we want to start looking for that home right away. We will be happy to discuss things in more detail about this handsome boy.
