Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is Kiwi. He is a Yellow-Naped Amazon, presumed male, and approximately 18 years old. Due to the death of his owner and life companion several months ago, Kiwi could no longer be cared for by his wife and daughter the way they wanted to. His owner was very ill for quite some time, therefore he has not been handled in several years. Despite his previous owner being male, he is very female preferential, and will NOT be adopted out to a male. He is beautiful and quite the chatter box. He has learned to whistle the Andy Griffith song, and some of the things he says are, "hey bird, Corrina, Corrina dear, are we friends, is there anybody in there, hi Kiwi, whatcha doing." He makes all kinds of noises as well. Since he has been with us, he has stepped up a handful of times, but would prefer not to if he could have it his way. He isn't quite comfortable with head scratches yet either. Kiwi would need a very patient adopter who is familiar with Amazons, and understands that they are one-person birds and that it can take them quite a long time to get comfortable and warm up. I would not recommend him for children, and he does not get along with other birds. He would do best in a home as an only parrot.
