Meet Sarge! This handsome hound is desperately seeking his new forever home and family. Sarge is a large guy, around 75lbs, and is full of love and happiness to give! He LOVES being outdoors, and enjoys chasing squirrels, playing with his friends, or enjoying a toy or chew. He is the perfect sports dog, and would excel at all things sports such as hiking, biking, trailing, and swimming. He really loves the water, and you can usually find him laying in a puddle, blowing bubbles!
Sarge gets along wonderfully with his foster brothers and sisters, so much so that he has been our Pack leader and lead rehabilitator for other troubled rescue dogs for the last few years. He has waited a long time to find a good home, so it's more than overdue! He is extremely social, and after the first couple days adjusts to any and all dogs both large and small. He gets along great, and is a good teacher to those that need some boundaries. Though he is extremely balanced and respectful of his other canine friends, he is far too excited about his feline pals so a home without cats or small animals that he will have access to, would be the best for Sarge!
Sarge is a very friendly dog, and meets people well. Sometimes he will get shy and can bark, but it's only for a moment. Once he knows your a friend, or you have a tasty snack, he's happy to ask for a belly rub! He doesn't like to be chased down or cornered, and enjoys his space when he's ready for quiet time. He would make a good family pet for kids who can respect his boundaries as he does their own.
Sarge is fully vetted and is cleared health wise. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm and flea preventions.
Since he has been in rescue a while and working with us to rehabilitate dogs, Sarge has recieved both basic and extensive training. He is very responsive to his owners once bonded and performs extremely well in all situations. He is great on recall for his name, and does great both on and off leash on our 5 acre property. He responds well, and is quick to learn new things! He will make training not only easy, but extremely enjoyable.
