Willie: nine year old male, white mitted, silver-shaded Maine Coon / Silver Shaded Persian mix
Willie and his solid black sister, Molly, were Owner Surrendered to us. Their loving human bought them as tiny kittens but now can no longer care for them. The cats’ mother was a Silver Shaded Persian. You can see her coloring in Willie not only in his silver coat but in his big green eyes. I have fostered other Persian / Coon mixes and they are always beautiful and seem to have the best traits of both breeds. Willie has beautiful eyes that never need the cleaning that Persian eyes generally do. He has a good strong nose so he has none of the breathing problems of the flatter faced Persians. He has a lush coat but it has less of he undercoat that makes daily grooming sessions so essential for most Persians. Willie does need occasional grooming and generally is ok with loving combing and brushing. His mom has recently given him a summer trim using a pair of scissors and you can see in some photos that the hair on his back is choppy and a bit odd looking. Some of his longer black hairs have been cut off as have some of his whiskers. They will grow back.
Willie is an inquisitive, active boy. This is the Maine Coon in him. He wants to follow you around and get into everything you are doing. He is very much a companion and will chat with you about what you are doing -- or what he wants you to do. The world is his toy and he is interested in everything. We weighed him, and he thought it was a great game. He wants lots of time with his human and tons of love from them.
You might notice on the photo of him standing on the scale that it reads 14 pound 4 ounces. He and Molly are BIG cats. That is also part of their big Coon heritage. He is a big, soft, warm armful.
Willie is bonded to his sister Molly. They still play and wrestle together as they did when they were kittens. They must be adopted together. No exceptions to this. He was very fond of a mellow older Chihuhua and would probably enjoy the company of a gentle small dog if one were around.
Willie eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
