My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE: Bronx and Brooklyn are in a foster home now and are available for adoption!! Will update with further information soon!!

We were given a little extra time to find a foster home or forever for Bronx and Brooklyn but not much - they now have until tomorrow, Sat, Aug 20th at NOON. Please open your heart and home to these sweet siblings!!

URGENTLY need a foster home or adopter for Bronx (paste the following link into your browser to see Bronx and Brooklyn together https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqrSAZL3e48 and one more of Bronx at play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsT8LuwNA1A) and Brooklyn! PLEASE help us save these two sweethearts. They are a bonded pair and would love to be rescued together.

We know it takes a big heart (and a little extra space in your home) to rescue a dog and that the thought of rescuing two can be overwhelming but if everyone has that same thought no one will step up and save these precious animals and they will die. I truly wish this was an exaggeration of the truth but it is not: ( it's a reality. If we don’t find a foster home or forever home for them by this Thurs, 8/18/2016 everyday thereafter will be a gift and could be their last. They are mature siblings and enjoy each other so much so that having two will actually make it easier in many ways. When you’re not home they will have each other. When it’s bed time they will cuddle. When it’s play time you can engage or watch and be entertained or both. It’s like having twins but at the stage where they are so much fun and a lot less work. Calling on all to post, cross-post, share and HELP US save Brooklyn and Bronx before it’s too late. Please reach out with any questions and/or APPLY to foster or adopt TODAY!

A VOLUNTEER WRITES: Bronx, the beauty king, is white all over, with subtle spots on his ears and one lone round spot just above his tail. He's a handsome pup, with all the charm in the world to go along with his unique looks. Bronx knows how to sit for treats and how to gently take them out of your hand when offered. He loves cuddling, toys, being scratched behind the ears, and exploring. At 5 years old, Bronx is just the right age where he's outgrown his puppy-ness but still has spring in his step and loves to play and enjoy life.
BASIC INFORMATION: Bronx is a healthy 5 yr old neutered male that is mostly white with a few red patches. Since a puppy he has been a loyal loving companion. Due to his owner having personal problems Bronx (and his sister, Brooklyn) have been surrendered to the shelter. The two have lost everything they have ever known and although they are in the same building they are apart?

SOCIALIZATION: Bronx is relaxed when meeting strangers; he will slowly approach to sniff and then becomes friendly and will give kisses. He has lived with young children, was relaxed with them and allowed handling (esp. loved being petted). Around adults in the home he was playful and would follow them around curiously. He has always lived with his sister, Brooklyn and they are very close. They did everything together, slept in the same bed, shared water and would play for hours.

BEHAVIOR: Bronx allows all handling. He prefers not to have his food bowl touched while eating but this can be worked on. He does allow removing toys or raw hides from his mouth. He enjoys his coat brushed but is fearful when getting his nail trimmed. He is house-trained and never has accidents in the house. He knows the commands sit, stay, come and down.

FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW: Bronx is described as friendly, confident and playful. He loves to run laps in the park and jump for attention. Sometimes he plays chase with his sister. He sleeps anywhere in the house. He eats 2x a day.

BEHAVIOR: During intake Bronx was relaxed and mellow. He approached counselor and sniffed. He allowed to be collard, scanned and photographed.
At intake it was reported Bronx was relaxed and mellow, he did allow all handling.

During SAFER Bronx came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Bronx was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Bronx was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner with his food, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experienced adopter.

Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor's hands each time without settling during three repetitions.

Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth.

Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.

Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.

Toy 1: No interest.

Dog-dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Bronx greets the other dog displaying soft body language. He is tolerant of her play solicitation but does not engage as he keeps to himself while exploring the pen.
