My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Welcome Vinnie! With his big ol' head and puppy personality, he is just the most precious, chill, dopey little dog! Ok, he's not little; Vinnie weighs about 55lbs and will probably not get a whole lot bigger than that. He’s got the color and brain of a Chocolate Lab but certainly has something else in there to give him his giant head, short fur, and speckled white chest, probably American Bulldog or something of that nature. He’s still young but goes potty immediately when walked outside. He hasn’t had an accident for a few days now but Foster Dad is very diligent about making sure he is taken out regularly. He can spend a whole day or night in his crate without any mess!

Vinnie absolutely loves other doggy buddies! He is submissive upon first introductions and once he is comfortable, he dashes and pounces around hoping for his furry friends to chase him. Because he is just about a year old, he is still learning where the brakes are and can be a bit vocal when he plays. But hey- if you’re looking for a Chewbacca-sound-alike, he’s perfect! These strange sounds only come out when he plays, otherwise he’s a quiet pup :) In fact, he is easily entertained with toys. He’s only picked up a shoe or other ‘non-dog-toy’ item twice, but thankfully he just likes shuffling his collection from crate to crate and didn’t destroy anything. Frozen peanut butter filled marrow bones are his absolute FAVORITE and will keep him entertained for quite some time! Though he enjoys plopping in Foster Mom’s lap and getting loved on, he is perfectly content in a separate room with his toys.

Currently, Vinnie has a slight limp and has been placed on restricted play. Even without the long walks and active play time in the backyard, he is still very much so manageable. Again, because of his age, he certainly has puppy instincts and wants to play a good bit, but redirecting his attention to other outlets occupies his time perfectly. As long as he gets some form of mental stimulation with a little physical exercise, he’s great! If you’re looking for a running partner, we’re sure he’d be up for that too (once he’s healed)! He does ok on a leash but doesn’t understand the concept of walking in a straight line so it will certainly take a little training. We think Vinnie would do best in an active household or one with another dog who can keep up with his enthusiastic playing.

When all is calm in the house, Vinnie is such a love-bug. He’ll roll right into your lap and just plop onto you with his dead weight. He has this way of looking up at you as if he’s reminding you that everything’s ok and he’s thankful that he is where he is. Come meet this adorable dog before you miss out on all the love he has to give!
