My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dear Santa,

I am starting to get worried that my forever home is out there but they just can’t find me. Could you help me find them? I love car rides so maybe I could ride in your sleigh with you this Christmas while you deliver presents? I could help put the presents under the tree and at the same time hopefully find my family? I’m really doing well at learning commands so if you are patient and work with me I could be of great assistance.

If it is ok with you, here is a little about me so if you happen to run into my family you will know.

I love to play with other dogs but if they don’t have one that is not a deal breaker.

I love stuffed squeaker toys and if they throw them I will play fetch. If they aren’t into fetch that’s ok too because I’m pretty good at throwing the toy and catching it, so I can keep myself occupied.

I have only had one accident in my foster home and I have been here since September so I am well on my way to being housetrained.

I have been very good with the little ki ds that I have met. Some of them even ran right up to me and I sat nice and waited like a good pup.

Oh, I almost forgot, I like to have my belly rubbed. If someone sits on the floor with me, I like to try to sit in their lap. I hope my new family would be ok with that.

Now for the things I need help with, I do need my new family to be willing to continue my obedience training. I like to stand up on my back legs and put my paws up on you. I know this isn’t ok with everyone but I get really excited and just can’t help myself. Sometimes when I get really excited I will be a little mouthy. A firm “no” gets me right back in line though.

Do you think you could help me out with this? I would really like to find my family soon so I can start 2009 off with a BIG BANG in my NEW HOME!

Love Always,

Alex

Here are some notes from my foster mommy...

Alex is currently crated during the day while we are at work (> 8 hours), goes into the crate when told and doesn't make a fuss so long as he gets his two treats and a small rawhide stick as a reward. He is currently getting a short walk in the morning and another at night when we get home. He walks well on a leash, doesn't pull unless he catches a scent and has no problem with pottying on a leash. Overall, Alex is not a high maintenance dog however he is not a couch potato either. He would enjoy a family that has either another dog or likes to take walks. Without some sort of daily exercise (i.e. a walk around the neighbor), he would be prone to getting into trouble like any other younger beagle would. He really enjoys attention, will actively seek you out and show you his belly so you can pet him. He is also great with riding in the car and enjoys going different places so if you travel around town alot, he would be a great companion.
