My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chia is a 13 week old small mixed breed puppy. Her mom is a Chihuahua, possibly mixed with Rat or Jack Russell terrier. Her dad appeared to be a small Heeler mix. She is currently around 8 lbs, is healthy and current on shots & de-worming. Chia is very playful, but also loves to cuddle and sit in your lap. She is doing great on housetraining with puppy pads, and is doing great with crate training. She is not spayed yet and will only be adopted out with a spay/neuter contract and deposit.

*SPECIAL NEEDS* - Although she doesn't require any special care, we do want potential adopters to be aware that Chia was the smallest of the puppies, and fought hard to survive. When she gets excited, her breathing gets a little noisy, and her throat has movement in it. She has been checked by the vet and given a clear bill of health though. They believe it may just be a valve that was under-developed and will continue to improve with age. Their recommendation is to monitor it as she matures.

Her mom was left to fend for herself in the desert when her family moved away. She was extremely shy and avoided capture until just 2 weeks before the puppies were born. Her 14 pound body was housing 8 puppies. She miraculously gave birth to 7 of them before the 8th became lodged and she needed an emergency C-section.
