My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joey is a beautiful white Collie with sable merle markings and light blue eyes, we believe between 2-3 years old. He is healthy as far as we know, except that he has low thyroid (common in collies) and he will need a low dose of inexpensive medication for the remainder of his life.
Joey came to NorCal Collie Rescue through Big Dog Rescue in Petaluma, which rescued Joey from a puppy mill in Arizona, where he was kept in a sterile environment. As a result, Joey has needed a great deal of training and socialization, but he still does not enjoy walks, or riding in cars, and is fearful of many things including loud noises. Although he is making progress, his adopters will need to continue Joey's transformation into a normal pet dog.
Joey has his own terms of endearment. He loves to lick fingers and toes and to play ball. He makes a good shredder. Joey gets along equally well with males and females, whether they are dogs or people. Joey is very friendly to the cat in his foster home. Joey has not been tested with kids and young teens.
Joey needs a home with at least one other dog, so that he can feel secure, ideally a younger dog that he can play with. Ideally his adopter(s) would not be gone long hours and would have the patience to continue his training and socialization.

Thank you for considering a rescued collie for your next dog. Please read the following information so that you know how collie rescue works: http://www.calcollierescue.org/adopt.htm

Joey will only be adopted to a home in Northern California.
