Energy level: High
Social with other dogs: Loves other dogs, but can play too hard with smaller dogs.
Social with cats: Doesn't seem to pay them much attention, doesn't chase or bother them. He will attempt to meet/greet and sniff in the beginning.
Grooming: Regular baths and nail trims
Good with children: YES

History: Apollo was owned by one of our Military, but when he was deployed, he turned Apollo in to a local shelter. He was stressed and literally being physically ill from being left behind. His owner had taken him running each day so he is one powerful strong Boxer. Our rescue pulled him and as soon as he was back in a home environment with kids, dogs and people to love him, he has done wonderful. He did develop kennel cough from being in the shelter, but that has been treated with antibiotics and doing great.

Apollo would do best in a home with either a family with older kids and dogs or someone who will spend a lot of time with him. He will not be adopted if being left alone 6-10 hours a day in a crate. This is what our foster family has worked so hard on since being with them. He had stayed in a crate way too many hours as well as sleeping in a crate at night. He was going stir crazy. He now sleeps on the floor next to his Foster Mom. He walks and runs with her daily. He rides well in the car with the family and he is a joy to have in your life. An extremely happy guy who wants nothing than to be loved and love you unconditionally. We do require a new owner to be experienced with the breed. Again he is strong, can pull a man across the yard if he so desires. Our vet says he is nothing but pure muscle. He needs a LOT of exercise.

If you think might be the perfect pet for you /family, please email PAWSAVER4U@GMAIL.COM for an application.

SSR DOES NOT ALLOW THE USE OF ELECTRIC/INVISIBLE OR UNDERGROUND FENCES OR SHOCK COLLARS OF ANY KIND. IF YOU ADOPT AND WE FIND THAT ANY OF THIS IS BEING USED, THE CANINE WILL BE TAKEN BACK INTO RESCUE.

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 5-7 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process, so emails are much preferred. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. We do NOT adopt to families with animals which have not been spayed/neutered.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, an adoption contract will be sent to you, to be signed, and there is an adoption fee to be paid.

All adopters must be 21 or older. Once the preliminary application is approved a home visit is required to complete the adoption process. All adopters must enter into a legal and binding contract upon completion of the adoption. Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date on all vaccines, rabies and, microchip heart worm/flea prevention and medical records.
