Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Riley is a sweet girl who has been in rescue and looking for her forever home for over a year and a half. She has been diagnosed with 'congenital pharyngeal paralysis' which means that she was born with a defect that causes her to have trouble swallowing food and water. Some of the symptoms are similiar to 'Megaesophagus'.
Riley has a special chair called a 'Bailey Chair' that she uses when she eats. The use of this chair allows gravity to assist in the digestion process, helping food to go down her esophagus instead of up into her nasal cavity. Riley also suffers from allergies, and is on monthly medication to help her!
Aside from this, she is a normal, healthy and happy dog who loves life and even though it may seem 'too much', it really isn't much different than caring for the average furbaby, she just needs a little more 'watchful eye'.... but she is so worth it! Riley is a fantastic companion dog. She loves kids, and everyone she meets! She loves playing with other dogs and even tries to play with the kitties!
Her perfect home would include a kid/kids and or a furdoggie sibling, or even someone who is home all the time. Riley doesn't enjoy being alone too much, so we feel its best she has some playmates or someone who can spend alot of time with her. Because of her medical issues, no one has been willing to give this sweet girl a chance, and we would LOVE to see her find her FOREVER family! We are hoping to find that 'special family' to make all of her dreams come true! Please consider making Riley a part of your family!
