My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There is a lot to love about Oz. First, he has so much spirit. His antics will have you in stitches. Second, once he learns to trust you, he has so much love to give. Third, he absolutely loves other dogs.

Oz, a 1.5-year-old medium sized dog (approximately 30 lbs), came to us in February of 2017 from a shelter, where he had been turned in by his owner. The shelter staff noticed that Oz had a front leg that he did not use. Additionally, Oz was very scared, and the shelter staff opted to send him to a rescue, rather than adopting him out.

Once we took Oz into our program, our vets evaluated him. They found that he could not use his front leg due to nerve damage, and that he also had a fracture of his right hind leg. This fracture had been left untreated for so long that it had already started to heal on its own. He also has a scar on the inside of his left hind leg. Most likely, Oz had gotten hit by a car.

Oz has done amazingly well in his recovery process: he uses his front leg with a minimal limp, and the hind leg has recovered entirely. Oz loves to run and play. He could play for hours on end with other dogs.

Oz is looking for a very special owner. An owner, who knows how to handle a dog with initial fear issues. Oz just needs his space until he decides that he can trust you. Once you gain his trust, he will be your best friend. He will do best in a home with other dogs, where he can learn trust from the other dogs.

Oz enjoys playing with other dogs, car rides, walks around the block and in the park, and he loves to snuggle.
