My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet little Poppy was distraught after her lifelong owner went into a nursing home. She was so sad that she didn't even want to leave her bed. Her family surrendered her to a vet clinic, and the veterinarian worked hard to make sure Poppy, a 15 year old 24 pound spaniel mix, was in the best health possible. Poppy had a dental cleaning, visited a cardiologist, and was started on pain medication for the arthritis in her back legs. Though Poppy only has 4 teeth left, she still enjoys dry food. She is a very low-key girl that just wants to spend the day chilling in a dog bed or on the couch. She is more comfortable with women but is learning to trust men as well. She is super sweet and enjoys being pet. She can handle short walks and loves sniffing around outside. All she was wants is some love and comfort for the last months of her life. She needs an owner who is able to keep her on her prescription pain medications twice a day and who is gentle and understanding as she adjusts to changes in her life. She doesn't enjoy other dogs, but has briefly lived successfully with a small dog, a chihuahua. She is used to having someone with her most of the time - a perfect match for a retired person. Do you have it in your heart to give an elderly lady a second chance at love?
