My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Arrival story: Josephine's owners are leaving for Thailand on Nov. 14 and are trying to find their dog a new home before they go. Sadly, they cannot take her with them and are running out of options.

Approximate age / weight: ~12 years and 37 pounds

Personality: Josephine is a loved family dog. She's has good house manners, although she does yap at anyone who comes close to her home. Animal professionals who work with her describe her as a "sweet dog". She's very good in new situations and travels well in vehicles. She goes outside several times daily on a leash, enjoys sunbaths on the deck and spends hours each day in the barn, looking for vermin.

<

While she's 12 years old, she's in good health with the exception some summer skin allergies that are controlled with and inexpensive prescription medication (Tamiril) and occasional antibiotics.

<

Since she does enjoy vermin hunting, a home without cats, bunnies and other small pets are recommended. Dogs smaller than her may also trigger her prey drive. Motivated by prey, she outruns the reach of an electric invisible dog fence. Her current owners take her outside on a leash and use a tie out for her sunbaths on the deck.

Forever home: Josephine needs a family that appreciates what senior dogs have to offer, a family that isn't put off by her skin condition, after all, she can't help it. Also, because of her prey drive, she will need a home without any other small animals around to temp her. A dog buddy bigger than her would be just fine, although, she would not object to having 100% of the attention, 100% of the time. Please contact us if you feel you have room in your heart and home for this special girl.

Pre-Adoption Application: To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to wtdr2008@yahoo.com

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $100 for senior dogs (9 years ), $275 for small breed dogs and $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
