Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Early behaviour is consistent with a dog that was not socialized to anything until late puppyhood. She was skittish, fearful and flighty upon arrival with Barlee's but fighting her fears very much. GOLDI NEEDS TO BE IN MULTI-DOG HOME - temped in a dog-free home (with a friendly cat) and was very scared. She takes time to gain confidence in her humans and this she learns greatly from another dog around. She has not shown signs of aggression - however is weary of some men (growls and barks at them). This shows to be based on her fears and could be overcome with time and patience. Given space (essentially ignoring her), she now comes around, sniffs, and gives gentle kisses when her trusted human (foster momma) is also there. She is very playful - just conflicted about whether she should trust humans. Once she knows she can trust you and gets her confidence in you, she is an amazing, gentle soul.
Goldi will do fine with other animals and possibly kids. She currently fosters with doggy brothers and kitties. She has even provided kisses to one gentle kitty. She does not foster with children, but has experienced children on some trips. The fast movements and volume of some children can be unsettling for her, but with time and respect she could become accustomed to them.
When Goldi first came to Barlee's she was very fearful of the outdoors; and the birds who flew over - oh my! She just could not relax outside. She has come along way, laying down and running in the yard, but still a ways to go to be completely comfortable outside. BUT she loves her walks. She now will leash walk especially in quiet areas and hikes in the woods. She will freeze and lower to the ground when something scares her (the sound of a poop bag crinkling or a stick cracking under foot), but given a couple seconds to regain her composure and for her to see her foster brother were unaffected, she is right ready to keep going.
Her rehab could continue for years and her future home will need to be ready to help her through this. It is not very tricky to rehabilitate - it just involves a low key household with quiet and patience. Initially hand feeding is suggested to help reinforce the connection with new humans and great things. She is an amazing little lady with so much love to give to her right forever home.
