My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are looking for an adorable pup to add to your family but you can't decide what you want their ears to look like, then Shelia is for you! Believe it or not, all the above pictures were taken within minutes of one another on the same day! Sometimes Shelia's ears lay down like a Dachshund, sometimes they are erect like a rat terrier and sometimes each one does something different! This makes Shelia extra special! Shelia is an adorable 7 month old (DOB 11/1/16) Dachshund mix pup who is part of a litter of 8 rescued from a local high kill shelter. She has a beautiful short black coat that is very soft with tan points. She is currently under 20 pounds so she will definitely stay a small dog. She is sweet and playful with other animals, walks on a leash, is crate trained and started on house breaking. Shelia has a lot of personality which is typical of the breed so Dachshund lovers or experienced Dachshund owners would be the best. She does well in a fenced yard for interactive play time and doesn't have any bad habits (no digging, jumping fences, etc). Shelia is looking for an inside forever home where she will be part of the family. A fenced yard for play time, a bed to sleep in, toys to play with and parents who have the time and commitment to training is on her wish list. If you would like to add Shelia to your family, email us at info.carega@gmail.com for an adoption application or you can download one at http://www.caresga.org/adoption-application. Vet reference is required to insure the best homes. We DO ship north and all over the US so just ask us for details!
Adoption fees for puppies are $350, adults dogs are $250 and senior dogs are $150. This includes each animal being current on age appropriate vaccinations including DHPPL, bordetella and rabies, de-wormed for any internal parasites (round worms, hook worms, tape worms and whipworms), tested heart-worm negative (if positive, they are treated), tested negative for tick borne diseases, spayed/neutered, implanted with a mini micro-chip and have been examined by a veterinarian to certify that they are healthy. All animals are also on a monthly regime of flea and heartworm medication. Lifetime registration for the micro-chip is included in each adoption fee. In addition, each adopter will go home with a fitted collar, tags, a bag of dog food the pet has been on, Forti-Flora, and an adoption kit filled with valuable information and coupons as well as other various treats or toys as promotions become available. All puppy adoptions include a puppy training book, the Puppy Primer by Patricia McConnell, to help ensure a smooth transition for your new family member.
We ask that you consider an additional donation on top of this pet's adoption fee. This money will go directly into our Adoption Fund to be used exclusively for rescuing and caring for other pets in need. Many pets we take in have very high vet bills to get them healthy and adoptable for the public - much higher than their adoption fees. We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from our community and caring adopters to continue our rescue efforts!
