Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This gorgeous 1 year old Boerboel girl is named Nona, aka Squish. When we rescued her from the shelter, no one could come up with a name that suited her best. Her foster mom absolutely adores her squished face, and the nickname Squish just stuck. She was found roaming the streets in Louisiana, and no one ever came back to claim her. She is very hesitant and nervous when meeting new people, particularly men. Nona needs for people to be patient with her until she feels comfortable enough to trust new faces. She gets along great with adults but definitely prefers women if given a choice. She has not been exposed to children just yet. We feel that with proper introductions, she will do well with older children in the home. Her feelings toward cats are unknown because she hasn’t met any in her foster home. She does however adore dogs of all shapes and sizes!
Nona is definitely still in the puppy stage and needs a home that is willing to work with her on training, discipline, and reinforcement. She is a very active girl that loves to go for walks and play with her foster siblings. We believe that she was previously locked up in a cage because instead of kennels offering her a sense of security, they make her very anxious. Her foster mom is working on teaching her that crate training is not so bad and assuring her that they will come back for her each time she goes into the crate. She has gotten the hang of walking on a leash and is now working on basic obedience and house breaking skills. Nona is heart worm negative and will be spayed, micro-chipped, and fully vaccinated before going into her new home. If you are interested in Nona or any of our other dogs, please feel free to email us at: info@bullpenrescue.org. Our Adoption Application can be found on our website under the ‘work with us’ tab.

We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you’re interested in is a good match.
Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a “perfect placement” so we know that they will not be failed again.
