My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in MERLIN or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application.
Download an adoption application here
Please email the completed application to pat.woofriver@gmail.com
Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached.

MERLIN is the most fantastic guy around! He is so adorable, he looks more like a mystical creature than a real dog. One of MERLIN’s magical powers is getting along wonderfully with dogs big, small, young, and old. This 1.5 year old guy has the uncanny ability to know which pups want to play and which pups want to be left alone. He can tolerate even big obnoxious dogs and annoying puppies.

MERLIN is always smiling and is joy to have in the home. He is potty trained and he doesn’t chew on furniture. He is a gentle giant who takes treats ever so delicately from your hand and is fabulous around his foster mom’s 7 month old son. MERLIN thoroughly enjoys going for walks and is also a terrific car passenger. He loves to play in the yard with other dogs, however he spends most of the day lounging around wherever his foster family and their pups are.

MERLIN is one of the coolest dogs we have ever been lucky enough to meet! His foster mom calls him an “angel dog.” Since he is such a big guy we do require that his forever family have Pyrenees experience or experience owning large dogs. Since he enjoys other pups so much, we also require that MERLIN’s forever home have at least one other canine family member. This guy brings happiness and good vibes wherever he goes. MERLIN is so irresistible know that his lucky forever family will be immediately under his spell and stay that way for a lifetime!

MERLIN is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.
His $450 adoption fee includes his interstate health certificate and cost of transport to the Midwest after he is adopted.

Please email the completed application to pat.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you for your patience.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
