My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy is an absolutely gorgeous and loving 7 year old mini Dachshund ready to find her new family. She was brought to the shelter after being found as a stray. She was in pretty bad condition; covered in fleas, very skinny, full of parasites, and tested positive for heartworms. She has been staying in foster care while she got rid of her fleas and parasites, and got back to a healthy weight. Lucy is an outgoing and loving girl, and definitely bonds quickly to people. She has been friendly with children, but we do recommend a home without very young children. Lucy is fine with other dogs, and good with cats! She is mostly focused on snuggling up next to her favorite person! She loves to burrow under blankets and wants to sleep in bed with you. Lucy doesn't like to be left alone once she is attached, and will cry, so she may not be best in an apartment setting unless someone is home a lot. Lucy is housetrained and will go outside if taken regularly. If you haven't taken her out in a long time and ignore her signs, she will go if she has too! Lucy will stay to be spayed once adopted, and then start her heartworm treatment once she is in her forever home. Her new family will need to be prepared to have her teeth cleaned as well. Come and meet Lucy, she is waiting for you at the Waggin' Tails Adoption Center in Benbrook! We are open daily from 12-6pm.
