My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jack is a two year old Neapolitan Mastiff that wants his new home to know these 10 things about him:

1. Like most Neos, I can be wary of strangers and need proper introductions to new people. A busy house is NOT for me, and I am NOT a good candidate for a first time Mastiff owner.

2. I get nervous when I am in new or unfamiliar situations, and I need a knowledgeable handler to help me build confidence. I find that I do best when I have a schedule, because I feel most secure when I know what to expect.

3. Once I get settled and we become friends, I want to be with you all the time! I have a very soft coat, which really comes in handy when the cuddle monster in me comes out.

4. I am small for my breed, and only weigh about 110lbs. Before I came to rescue, someone cropped my ears and docked my tail, but they didn’t do a very good job. As a result, my tail has more skin than vertebrae, which makes my nub look like more of a flap. My foster mom says she finds it quite endearing (she calls me FlapJack sometimes) and I hope my new people will agree.

5. I enjoy taking naps, hanging with people, and getting belly rubs.

6. I would prefer to find an adult-only household, but I think I might be able to live in a home with older teenagers, as long as they weren’t too loud or rambunctious.

7. My ideal home would have a confident, large-breed adult female dog that I could hang out and play with, after a slow introduction of course.

8. Although I’ve never lived with a feline, I do see lots of barn cats at the Bullpen, and I generally don’t care much about them. I think I might be able to cohabitate with kitties if my new family showed me how to interact with them.

9. I have stellar indoor manners, I’m housebroken and I’m also good in a crate. I know how to use a doggy door, and I’m always practicing my leash skills.

10. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation.
Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a “perfect placement” so we know that they will not be failed again.
