My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucky is a 10 lb cream colored toy poodle. Lucky is alert and a quick learner. She knows the standard set of tricks – sit, stay, come, lie down, paw/shake, wait – as well as eclectic mix of tricks like perking up ears and cocking head on cue, crawling on her belly forward and backwards, dancing on her hind legs, turning in tight circles, lying on mom’s foot, jumping into boxes/bags, closing cabinets, and more. Lucky is a graduate of the Humane Society Head Start program and had some agility training.

Lucky is lively and young at heart. She is frequently mistaken for being a puppy despite being a young eight years old (DOB 12/2000). When Lucky is off leash, people have been known to stop in their tracks and point to Lucky in astonishment as if they have never seen a dog run before - a streak of white making fast turn maneuvers.

Lucky is affectionate and loving. She is happiest when hanging out with her family. Lucky has lived with her current family for seven years, since she was a nine month old puppy. Lucky enjoyed her status as “dog daughter” until her human sisters, now ages 3 and 5 came along. Unfortunately, “mom” and “dad” are divorcing, and Lucky needs a new home. Lucky would love to have a mom or dad that could be with her most of the day, perhaps a retired person. Lucky is an indoor dog and barks when she is lonely. She is housebroken and crate trained. She travels well in bags, on a leash, in cars, and airplanes (as carry-on). She tends to nip at strangers, but once you have earned her trust, she is docile. With no resistance, she lets “mom” brush her teeth and lets her 5 year old “sister” carry and hug her.

Lucky is healthy. Except for easy to apply once a month preventive flea/tic drops, Lucky is not on medication. She has all her teeth which were cleaned recently. Except for being spayed, she has never had surgery. Lucky is active and loves taking walks. As a young dog, Lucky would run six miles at a time with mom. A tired Lucky is a good Lucky. These days after a 20 minute walk, she is likely to be mellow girl the rest of the day.

If you are looking for a special compact companion who will live to be with you and give you many occasions to laugh, Lucky could be your dog. Please contact Lois at yulois@yahoo.com if interested.
