Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Daisy is a 6 year old female spayed Shih Tzu who weighs 11.7 lbs. She is a very outgoing sweet girl who loves playing with her toys or lounging on the couch. Daisy is crate trained and sleeps in her crate overnight and during the day when no one is home; she would prefer to be loose in the house but can’t always be trusted to use the bathroom outside. When she is in her crate she will often bark or whine for attention if she doesn't have a high value chew toy like a Kong stuffed with peanutbutter.
She is house broken in a home that can give her the initial guidance to establish boundaries, in her previous house she would go to a back room and use the bathroom instead of trying to go outside. They were an elderly couple with health issues and it was difficult for them to keep an eye on it. In her foster home now she has never gone to the bathroom in the house, they always have a close eye on her and she will signal to go outside by going to a gate or the back door. In a new home she will need to be trained to know which door to go to, or she might start going back to finding a place in the house.
She loves to play fetch with a toy or a small ball; she will even play fetch by herself! Daisy is a snorter and makes funny noises when she has toys in her mouth. She has been great with kids of all ages and she has been great with everyone she has met in the foster home. Her foster mom bathes her with no issues and brushes her when needed. Initially Daisy snapped a couple times but was sternly told NO and she doesn't do it with her foster owners at all.
But, we have now learned from two different groomers that she becomes very aggressive on the table and is difficult to groom. We are going to try and see if one of the groomers in the area that is friends with the rescue can give us a more detailed report of what he sees. Daisy has been absolutely no problem with the dogs in her foster home and is great with dogs both big and small; she prefers calmer ones but will walk away from the rowdy ones. However, she was adopted into a home for a couple days and immediately started guarding the new owner from the dog that already lived in the home. Because of this and because of the grooming issues we are looking for a home where she can be the only dog and no young kids.
Daisy enjoys a good hang out on the couch while you are watching TV; she enjoys being with people in general. Daisy does know what “sit” means and we are working on not pulling on the leash during walks.
Daisy's adoption fee is $250 plus a microchip registration fee of $10.99. She is spayed, chipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative.
