My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you like a dog that is a kisser, than I'm your guy. Do you know how many people I have kissed in my lifetime? I probably could be in the Guinness World Record Book for it. When I am at local adoption events, foster mom has to warn everyone about me. Especially the ladies, she tells them I will take off their makeup so look out.

I will give you a million kisses (maybe more) within the first ten minutes of meeting you if you let me. Foster mom is a party pooper and will not let me give her a million. She says, "Enough Stewart, you only get one or two kisses."

Speaking of my name, Stewart, I am named after Tony Stewart the famous NASCAR driver. He drives a red and white race car and I am a red and white beagle. I am not the ordinary tri-colored beagle, black, white and tan. And I also have gorgeous golden eyes, instead of regular brown ones that beagles usually have. That makes me very special.

Don't let my age of one scare you. Foster mom says I am a very mature one-year-old. I am done with the chewing stage. No thoughts at all of chewing on anything other than a chew or dog toy. And I am completely house-trained and have been since day one in my foster home.

Some notes from foster mom: Stewart can be a very independent dog. Sometimes he comes when called, sometimes he gives you the look that says, I hear ya, but I'm not moving. He doesn't need constant attention but at the end of the night, he will curl up on the couch with you for some rubbings. I think he would love to sleep in bed with his owner, but now he sleeps in his dog bed on the floor in the bedroom.

He looks forward to his daily walk. I think he would love to have several walks a day. And for a 40 lb. beagle, he is not a puller at all on the walk. He walks great wearing his harness. We usually start out walking, but I like to get him going to a nice trot. That's right, 40 lbs. trotting along, his long ears blowing in the wind and he has the cutest little short legs it is such a sight to see!!!

He knows the command "sit" and will sit for a treat while we are walking. He is intelligent and I think would do well with a basic training class for bonding with his new owner.

Stewart would do best with a family that is willing to crate train him in the beginning. I have errands I run several times a week. I put Stewart in his crate with a peanut butter kong and go. He is crated 4-6 hours several times a week with no problem.

Because he loves to chew on bones and rawhides, he would do better in a home with older children. I can take a chew off of him with no problem. But he can be possessive of his chews. He will entertain himself with his chews for hours if you let him.

He is not vocal unless playing with the resident 3-yr-old male beagle in the yard or if another dog is walking past the fence. I think he would do well as an only dog. That would mean more loving for him, but he gets along with the 3-year-old male here as well.

As for NASCAR, Stewart would not mind curled up on your lap on a Sunday afternoon watching his favorite race car driver. And if Tony Stewart is not the winner that day, Stewart can help you get over it by giving you lots of kisses to make you feel better.

Just contact BREW about me, the special red and white beagle with golden eyes.
