Jax is a confident, social dog who welcomes meeting new people and experiencing new things in his environment. He rides very nicely in a vehicle and seldom barks. He is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on shots. Jax is a pit bull/Labrador retriever mixed-breed who Illinois Humane recovered from the Cedar Rapid, IA temporary flood relief shelter. Jax is housebroken, his foster mom says, and he is getting along nicely with her five dogs and two cats. He is quiet and well-mannered wherever he goes. About 6 years old, Jax attends weekly obedience training with the other Iowa dogs. He is also visiting local nursing homes. Jax doesn't like unruly dogs who are pushy and hyper, but he would make a great companion for an older dog who just wants a canine companion to chill out with while the family does its work, school or whatever other activities might be part of the family's lifestyle.
