My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ARE. YOU. READY. TO. ROCK?!!!

I'm Rocky, a ten year old (as of fall 2017) brown mackerel tabby. My "old lady" passed away and her old man couldn't care for me anymore, so I found my way to The Cat Network.

I absolutely LOVE people and am very affectionate. My foster mom cannot keep me off her shoulders! I love to climb or jump up on her shoulders (I am very careful not to use my claws) so I can ride around and keep her company while she does cat chores. I'm fine with most cats who respect my personal space. Kids would be perfectly fine for me. Dogs? Well, I'm not sure...I've heard things, ya know??

I had a couple of spells where I didn't want to eat much, so I had some blood work done (which was perfect, by the way, because I am, after all, a rock star). The vet thought my intestines felt a little thick, so I had an ultrasound and biopsy done. I was diagnosed with mild to moderator Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBD). Because I am really rockin' at life right now (good appetite and no symptoms), I am on no medications, and I eat regular food (I like both dry and canned). If I do have a flare up (my usual symptom is a lack of appetite, but there could be others), the plan would be to treat me with a short course of oral steroids (which you will have to crush and mix in my food, because you are NOT getting near my mouth with medications - I will stick my paws out like Superman and jerk my face away). I may eventually need a daily steroid or other medication, but for now, I'm awesome.

If you'd like your very own rock star, or you have questions about me or IBD, please email shannon@catnetwork.org.
