RESCUING KALI

In June 2012, three puppies were dumped at Animal Control. They were only a few days old and without a mom so their chances of survival were slim. The next day, Animal Control brought in a lactating female. Although she may or may not have been the real mom, she stepped up to the challenge. The mom and AC Staff did everything they could, but two pups died.

The wonderful people at Animal Control reached out to us and agreed to hold the mom and the surviving female puppy for a few weeks until we could pick them up. The mom was treated for heartworms. The puppy, Kali, was a healthy girl. Once she was ready to leave her mom, we felt confident that Kali would be on to a loving home, but we were wrong.

ABOUT KALI

Kali has been with the Forlorn family her entire life of 11 years and counting. Her dream and our dream for her is to spend her remaining years in a home of her own. Why hasn't Kali been adopted? It could not be because of her personality because she is the happiest dog on the planet!  Kali has a zest for life and she loves toys! She'll zoom around with any toy you give her. She is completely happy to run around with a ball in her mouth all afternoon. Kali is a bundle of fun-loving energy that would enjoy any activity as long as she is with her people. She would be a fantastic running or hiking partner. She would even just be happy to chase the ball around the yard for you. Seriously, this girl could play fetch for days. Playing fetch with a Chuck-It would be a dream for her. Due to Kali being housed in the rescue her entire life, she has never been around children. Therefore, a home without children would be ideal. She has not been around cats or other dogs either, so in order for her to succeed in a home she needs to be an only four-legged child. She is crate and house-trained.

Our adoption fee is $300. All dogs are current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, on heartworm prevention, and are fed top-of-the-line grain-free food.

More about this rescue

Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue is a 501 c 3 no-kill, charitable organization dedicated to the care of homeless, unwanted, abused, and neglected pitbulls, particularly those who are considered hard to place or with special needs. All dogs under our care are provided with food, shelter, veterinary care, as well as basic house-training and obedience until placement is found. We will try to match the dog and appropriate, loving, and permanent home based on the dog's temperament & personality evaluation as well as the prospective home's vet & home check. Veterinary care provided will ensure that the dog is in general good health, up-to-date on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

Additionally,"Friends to the Forlorn" Pitbull Rescue Inc. takes pride in educating the public in the importance of proper and responsible pitbull ownership, spaying & neutering, as well as the humane care and treatment of all animals.
