Meet MMR's newest super star....Elsa!!! Thanks to MMR's affiliation with Animal Rescue Corps, we are able to welcome this divine little lady to our rescue. ARC conducted a raid on a so called rescue, and found several dogs living in deplorable conditions, including Elsa. She had been living in the bathroom with some other dogs in the home of her 'rescuer' Despite her confinement, Elsa is a sweet, laid back, social, loving girl.
Elsa is a purebred Chihuahua who weighs a whopping 6 pounds and is estimated to be between 5-6 years old. Most Chi's can live well beyond 15 years, so please consider the lifetime commitment you will be making before you apply to adopt her. Like most Chi's, Elsa loves to be held, and has a low to moderate energy level. She likes to burrow in a blanket or comfy dog bed for a nap, but is also curious about her surroundings and the people who care for her. She is fine with other dogs, but will not be placed in a home with any super large breed dogs...this is for her own safety.
Elsa is a social Chi, and will do well in most homes. However, she will not be placed in a home with children under the age of 10, or a home that has children younger than 10 years who regularly visit. Chi's are very loving dogs, but they do not have the patience of some other breeds, and therefore don't tolerate the younger children as well as some other breeds.
Families or individuals with previous Chi experience are encouraged to apply and will be given preference. A fenced yard is preferred, but not required. Elsa is still learning about leash walking, but very much enjoys the social aspect of her daily walks. On occasion, it might be less stressful to allow her some supervised time in a fenced yard until she has mastered her leash manners.
If you think you have what Elsa is looking for, please fill out an application to begin the approval process. Better photos coming soon

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster home for a dog in need! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering on our website under 'How you can help.' MMR covers the vet care, food, and tools to get started. You supply the love. Fostering saves lives. Sometimes a foster home is the only thing standing between life and death.
