Dear potential forever family,
Hi, I’m Bowie... a 2-year-old shy, yet playful poodle-terrier buddy just waiting to come out of my shell. I have been through a lot for how young I am, but I have been making leaps and bounds on the trust front in my foster home. I went from not being able to wear a collar or harness to now not being so afraid of them. Walking on a leash actually used to be terrifying for me. Ya, the chaos of the outside world is scary too and I still do best in more zen settings, but what is most difficult for me is being touched by a leash. It probably sounds weird, but when you haven't been treated nicely in the past it's hard to trust that it won't always be that way. Little by little though I have made great strides in the trust department. I can now enjoy walks although I still need a person who knows how to set me up for success. Someone who has experience with rescue buddies is ideal because going slow and steady is key while helping me grow confidence. I LOVE playing and having a dog buddy is a must! A tranquil home environment is preferred because the best PAWts of my personality bloom when I don't feel anxious.. and chaos causes me stress! That being said, even though I am a very nice guy, I will do best in a home without kids due to their unpredictable nature. If you are patient and kind yet confident and easygoing, then we might just be a match! What I have to offer is that extraordinary kind of love that grows leaps and bounds with time.
