My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet 'Oscar Mayer'... a handsome 4-year-old, 17-lb. Dachshund who's looking for his forever home. Oscar's a happy little boy who loves playing with his squeaky toys and balls, chewing on antlers, and just laying next to his special person. Oscar has an exceptionally sweet temperament for a Dachshund. He’s not territorial, over protective, or snippy, like some dachshunds can be. He's very smart, and knows his basic commands such as 'sit, 'shake', 'wait', 'no', etc. Oscar enjoys going for walks on leash, but he needs some training to teach him not to pull.

Oscar is housetrained... he will alert when he needs to go outside, and will do best in a home where somebody is home much of the day to let him out to 'potty'. He does not enjoy staying in a crate, but really enjoys sleeping in 'the big bed', as do most Dachshunds.

Oscar's new home should have a fenced yard since he's a very active little guy and has plenty of energy. Also, having a playful canine companion will help him expend much of his energy and keep him company when left alone.

Oscar is in good health and is neutered, microchipped, current on his Rabies and DHP/Parvo vaccines. He tested negative for Heartworms and is on heartworm and flea prevention.

Oscar’s adoption fee is $275.00.

Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a 3-week trial period with all our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adoptive family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have the perfect “forever” home!

If you are interested in Oscar, and think he may be your ideal canine companion, please visit our website at foreverhomek9rescue.org for information on our adoption process. To get an application, you can cut and paste this link to our on-line application: http://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application. You may also download an application from our website, or e-mail us at foreverhomeK9rescue@yahoo.com for additional information or to request an application.

Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, but we never “ship” or “transport” our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
