My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jazzy... our little 10-year-old, 10-lb. Shih Tzu girl who's looking for her forever home. She was originally found as a stray, and her owners were never located. This little girl is as sweet as can be! She gets along with everybody... humans, and the dogs in her foster home. She does not play or interact with the other dogs, and we feel she would prefer to be an 'only-child', where she could get all her guardians' TLC. She is a very 'easy' little girl... not demanding much, not barking much, but with much love to give.

Jazzy enjoys going for walks and rides well in the car. She is well housetrained, but being a small, older dog, we are looking for a home and family who will have someone home much of the day to let her out to 'potty' on a regular schedule. Jazzy sleeps well in her crate, but we know that she would much rather sleep in 'the big bed' with her special person.

Being a Shih Tzu, Jazzy needs regular trips to the groomer about every 4-6 weeks, and bathing and brushing in-between appointments. Shih Tzus are considered high-maintenance for their grooming needs, and grooming will be an on-going expense for the rest of her life. We want to be sure she will never have to suffer from being dirty and matted, as she was when originally found.

Jazzy is in good health, and her vet said she is spayed. She is microchipped, current on her Rabies, DHP/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. She tested negative for Heartworms and is on Heartworm and flea prevention. Jazzy has had a dental cleaning, and had bloodwork done. She has a mature cataract in her left eye, and she has good vision in her right eye. She has been seen by an ophthalmologist, and even though she hasn't had any vision from her left eye for quite a while, the doctor feels that she is a good candidate for cataract surgery. She now needs drops in her eyes twice a day. We would love for her to have the surgery, but at this time can't afford the cost, which will be about $1,900.00. We would love for her to find an adoptive family who will help us to afford her the surgery.

Phoebe’s adoption fee is $275.00.

Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a 3-week trial period with all our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adoptive family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have the perfect “forever” home!

If you are interested in Jazzy, and think she may be your ideal canine companion, please visit our website at foreverhomek9rescue.org for information on our adoption process. To get an application, you can cut and paste this link to our on-line application: http://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application. You may also download an application from our website, or e-mail us at foreverhomeK9rescue@yahoo.com for additional information or to request an application.

Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, but we never “ship” or “transport” our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
