My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kona is a 5 year old male red merle Australian Shepherd with a pretty dark red coat and a unique color pattern called Tweed. He is a lean dog, much smaller than your average neutered Aussie of his age. He’s pretty active and loves to run and play, so that is probably why he’s in such great physical shape. Kona is a great dog, sweet and obedient and friendly with other dogs, with a funny quirk about him—he smiles. He SMILES with his whole face. When he gets really excited, he will pull his lips back and give you the biggest, silliest Aussie smile that will make you crack up laughing. He enjoys playing with toys and likes time outdoors with other dogs. He can be a little shy at times with new people, and needs a little patience initially to feel comfortable as he works those things out, but once he’s comfortable he is a total love. He is one of the happiest dogs we have ever seen. Kona is sweet with dogs of all sizes, ages, and sexes, and is even patient with puppies. We do think he would do best in a home with at least one other dog for company, and would probably enjoy some older children who could play with him when he’s outdoors. Kona is housetrained and is crate trained as well, and will happily spend time in his crate when needed. He does not counter surf or chew any inappropriate objects, one of the wonderful things about an adult dog. He will, however, sing from time to time, and prepare to laugh like crazy when you see him get to that point. He’s a unique free spirit who is still very obedient, loving, and loyal. Once he bonds to you, he is the kind of dog you can take outside off-leash with you and not have to worry about him. He is super smart and knows Sit and Down, and will learn as much as you want to teach him, but he does require an active, interactive family. Kona is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, current on heartworm and flea prevention, and has tested negative for heartworms. He is available for a $200 adoption donation, and if you are interested in this happy, beautiful boy, please download an adoption application from our website, www.twistedbranchaussies.com, and submit it to the email address on the form.
