This perky, playful little pup is Lily. She is a 1 1/2 yr old Bichon mix with irresistible charm and endless enthusiasm for life! She loves everyone - a total people pup - and everyone loves her! She is a very entertaining little dog with a carefree and happy-go-lucky personality! She is a real little treasure wrapped in a ball of curly white hair!
Lily was left homeless after her owners abandoned her at the home of a friend, while they were on their way to the airport to leave the country! The friend was not interested in keeping Lily so he networked with acquaintances looking for anyone who would take her off his hands! Luckily for Lily, a very kind woman, who is familiar with HALDR, heard about her problem and agreed to help find her a new home. When Lily was dropped off at the woman’s office, very dirty and scruffy, the staff rallied round her and took turns pupsitting until the end of the day! This unsettling experience would have traumatized many dogs but Lily trusted the new people caring for her and was just happy to be the center of attention.
Since being in a loving foster home Lily has become nearly 100% housetrained. She doesn’t know how to alert her people yet but she is learning! She is crate trained too and will willingly go into the crate to rest for a few hours, She will also sleep thru the night there without a single sigh or cry of complaint!
It doesn’t appear that LIly was taken for many walks in her first home but she is learning quickly how to walk on the leash. She still stops now and then as if she is contemplating whether to go forward or back but with a little tug she happily carries on! Practice, patience and a regular routine is helping Lily learn that walking is really fun. In fact, she likes it so much she wants to go all the time! She can do several hour long walks during the day and still not be tuckered out. She is a spunky little thing with lots of energy. Now she eagerly looks forward to meeting new friends and enjoying the new sights and smells when she is outside! She loves playing with other dogs too so she would be very happy to have a canine brother or sister to share her life.
Lily is very out-going and appears to be absolutely delighted to be everyone’s best friend! She is friendly and outgoing despite her limited social opportunities! She is peaceful with everyone including other dogs and even cats when they cross her path! People still top her list tho and she’ll always be ready for some super snuggle time and some playtime with her favourite toys!
Since being in the care of HAL, Lily has been thoroughly examined by a vet, been given her vaccinations , been spayed and is microchipped. Lily is very healthy but she does get a little car sick on long car rides.
Lily is ready to start her life with her new family. She loves kids but is fairly small so we don’t recommend her for little ones. She’d be a great companion for older kids who have time to play games and cuddle on the couch. She is still a pup and she has a lot of energy so she is best suited to an active family. Bichon’s bond quickly with their people so it won’t take long for Lily to be an important member of her new human pack.
If you have time and love to give this little dog whose dark eye’s sparkle with mischief Lily will return the favour with love and laughter. And she’ll happily get you off the couch to enjoy what the outside world has to offer. Her happy-go-lucky personality is sure to win you over and bring smiles wherever she goes.
