My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thumbelina arrived at the shelter in mid-July, a bit timid at first, but not at all feral — just cautious and confused upon finding herself and her two brothers living at the shelter. Her brothers have each found new homes, and Thumbelina hopes she’s next! She moved into foster care so that she wouldn’t be too lonely, and is thoroughly enjoying being able to run around and play in a larger space. Like most tuxedos, she’s a funny little thing... very happy and social, some parts goofy, some parts sweet. The goofy parts might be her big front mitts — she’s a polydactyl, with extra claws on her front paws, making it look like she’s got thumbs. The sweet part is how happy she is to see her foster family and their young male cat when they come in to visit with her. She’s easy to pick up and give a little loving to, though she doesn’t tolerate being held for very long, as she’s usually just overjoyed to have visitors and runs around like a happy little scamp. She should make a good companion to a family with children, other cats or dogs that are accustomed to cats and are not aggressive. She’d probably benefit from a few days in an isolation/introduction room, especially in a busier home, just so she can get used to her new family before being introduced to the full house.

Thumbelina is approximately 10 weeks old as of August 7. She has not yet seen a vet or been tested, but she has been treated for roundworm and fleas. Though there is no adoption fee, a state-mandated $75 spay/neuter deposit is required to adopt her, and is fully refundable upon proof of spaying (cash or check payable to Town of Scituate only, please).

Please remember, she is in foster care so you cannot visit her at the shelter. For more information or an application, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net, or call the shelter at (401) 647-7200 to have your contact information passed along to the foster home.

You can find a downloadable application by scrolling down the Town of Scituate’s Animal Control page — please copy and paste the following link into your browser: http://www.scituateri.org/departments/animal_control/
