Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Interested in adoption? The first step is an application at www.paddyspaws.blogspot.com. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered.
Wisconsin applications are priority, but Illinois applications will be considered if no small children are present in the home, the home is owned, and excellent vet reference can be provided. We cannot process applications from other states.
Meet Rocky! He is a fabulous tripod with an equally fabulous temperament! We accepted him into our rescue when his previous rescue was too full to bring him back. He was returned from a family who decided he "wasn't what they expected". For a lab, he's everything we expected! We don't know how he lost his back leg, but it doesn't slow him down! He loves to romp and play with four-legged friends and adores a good belly rub! No need to consider this fellow "special needs", because he has no limitations. He is house trained and kennel trained, and working on his leash training. He's lived with dogs, cats and children and has done well with all. Because he is a strong fellow, really small children might be run over, so his foster suggested 6 and up.
Rocky's foster family says that he is the happiest guy they know. He is happy to see you, happy to play outside, happy to go in the car, happy to run around and wrestle (he LOVES playing with his foster sisters), happy to sit for a treat, happy when you call him to come. Happy, happy, happy. and, Rocky is very affectionate and physical. He really loves full body hugs and to snuggle his head on your lap.
Rocky is also young and a lab. His foster family wonders if he has hunting lines, as he has energy to boot and is very intelligent and trainable. Right now Rocky is pretty much a "big puppy" and will need the continued structure and training that any young, active breed dog needs. He still needs to chew and play tug, like a pup. Because of his energy, Rocky would do best with a play mate and most likely a fenced yard - or a way to run and sniff and get his energy out. He needs daily physical activity and would be a great hiking partner.
Rocky is excellent in the house. He settles right down when crated or left alone in a bedroom. He has been left up to six hours at a stretch with zero issues.
There is nothing that Rocky can't do with his three strong legs that a dog with four legs can. He can keep up with the best of them!
Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once
approved a meet and greet with the dog. Please note that preference is given to adopters in
Wisconsin, but Illinois adoptions will be considered. will be considered. Adoption fee is $250.
