My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Oso
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: About 1 year
WEIGHT: About 7 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be fine with older, mature children (10 and older)

Introducing Oso. The name Oso has a Spanish origin and means “bear”. This little guy was named Oso because he looked like a fuzzy brown bear when he was a puppy. He was adorable then, and is adorable now. You are going to want to squeeze this little guy and give him a bear hug – LOL.

Oso’s human recently passed away of cancer. He and his brother Chongo were loyal to the end. They lovingly stayed by their owner’s side through the entire journey. The family asked if we could take this pair into our program and find another loving family for each of the brothers. We are happy to do that for both of the little guys – they are a joy to be around and are ready for some more love.

Oso has a sweet and fun personality. He gets along great with all the other dogs in his foster home. He loves to play with the other dogs. He enjoys toys of all kinds. His favorite toys are ones that are soft and squeaky. He also enjoys chewing on the chewy bones! He is young and has great energy.

Oso loves going outside and exploring the yard. Note that Oso is small and therefore will always need his human near by while he is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Oso). We also want to emphasize that your fence must be very secure. Oso is tiny and he can easily slip under the smallest opening in a fence, so he will need to be in a home with a solid, fenced yard.

Oso also loves his humans. He has an outgoing personality and wants to get to know everyone he meets. Oso wants to go everywhere you go. He is curious and enjoys participating in the family activities. He loves to cuddle with you and get petted. He also loves to burrow under a blanket and lay right next to you. Oso would be very content to spend hours cuddling on the couch with you. If you want a TV watching buddy, Oso is your guy! If you need cheered up after a long day, Oso would be happy to sit by you and lift your spirits!

Oso is young and has a great deal of energy. He is past the puppy crazy energy stage, but Oso is a young man and enjoys activity. He is about 1 year old. Oso weighs about 7 pounds and is fully grown. He has a tan coat, adorable ears, and deep brown eyes. Oso is a little more excitable than his brother Chongo! If there is someone coming near your house, he will alert you and bark (we love dogs who are smart and tell you when someone is approaching). He calms down quickly when he knows the visitor is someone you approve of. Oso has a cute habit – he will dance for treats! See his dancing picture below his bio!

We believe Oso would do best in a home with another small dog, as he adores his 4 legged siblings. If you are interested in two, please consider adopting his brother Chongo. Oso has interfaced with Grandchildren in his foster home and will be fine with older, mature children (10 and older).

Oso is super smart. He is the leader in the house and is the first to go to the door to potty (the other dogs follow him!). He is 100% potty trained. He sleeps in a crate at night, but would probably prefer to snuggle in bed with you. Oso is crate trained, but it is not his favorite thing in the world. Sometimes he will cry for a minute or so, pleading his case on why you should let him out – LOL. But he settles down quickly. Oso has had little opportunity to take walks due to his owner’s illness so is not fond of the leash! But we are working on that, as we think he would enjoy walking.
Oso is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If this sweet guy sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Oso is neutered, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. He is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?
