My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Nugget
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 12 weeks (as of early October)
WEIGHT: About 4.9 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be fine with children
COAT: Beautiful wire hair coat

Introducing adorable Nugget. This girl got her name because her coat has a golden color just like a nugget of gold. She has an adorable wire haired coast and we believe she is a Chihuahua and Yorkshire Terrier mix. Her personality is joyful. You are about to fall in love!

Nugget was found running loose in the North Dallas area. When an owner could not be found, Animal Services reached out to CRT and asked if we would take her in to our program so she could finish growing and getting all her vetting completed. At the time, she was estimated to be only 2 months old! Nugget has been delightful in her foster home. We are excited about finding Nugget's forever home for her.

Nugget gets along with other small dogs in her foster home. She has a lot of energy and loves to run and play with them. She also loves to cuddle with them. Nugget loves toys of all kinds. She loves squeaky toys and chew bones. Her favorite is a tiny plush bear which she carries everywhere! She plays for hours with her toys.

Nugget loves going outside and exploring the yard. She loves finding sticks in the yard and bringing them to you so you can praise her for her great work! Note that Nugget is small and therefore will always need her human near by while she is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Nugget). We also want to emphasize that your fence must be very secure. Nugget is so tiny that she can easily slip under the smallest opening in a fence, so she will need to be in a home with a solid, fenced yard. Nugget loves to run and explore, so her home will need to be secure in all aspects. She loves to run to the door to greet her family when they come home. Her foster home has a gate around the front door to keep her from slipping out, and her forever home may want to consider something similar until she grows up a bit!

Nugget loves to snuggle with her humans. She is adorable in all aspects and wants to be your best friend! Nugget has an outgoing personality and adores everyone she meets. Her tail is constantly wagging and she is so happy to be around you. She loves to cuddle. This little girl is a velcro dog with her humans. She loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it. Note that she is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! And she definitely wants to be on your lap while you watch TV in the evenings. Nugget never meets a stranger - everyone is her friend! She is going to be the social chairman in your home!

Nugget currently weighs about 4.9 pounds. We think she will be about 6 pounds when fully grown. She will do great with children. Nugget is about 16 weeks old (November) and has a lifetime of love to share. Nugget would love to have a home with a back yard to play in. She is not a big barker. She would love to have another small dog to play with as she grows up. She would probably be fine as an only dog too as long as her humans gave her lots of love and attention each day.

Nugget is working on her potty training and is almost there. She goes potty outside and has also learned to use pee pee pads. She currently sleeps in a soft dog bed inside of an crate. She would probably love sleeping in bed with you as she loves to cuddle.

Nugget is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Nugget is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family - could that family be yours?
