My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a courtesy post for a fellow rescuer. All contact information is listed below.

Schubach --probably a JRT/Beagle mix---is approx 5 yrs old, 20#. Spayed,
shots (due for rabies) and on Interceptor for heartworm. She was treated
for heartworm Dec 08-Jan 09 and is clear.
Housebroken, Crate-trained. Good with dogs and cats (don't know about
kids)
She is "desperately" social, wanting to meet, greet and be petted, held,
hugged by people. Loves to sit on the couch with me and watch tv, sleeps
in bed with me at night, is crated while I am at work during the day.
She has a few bears she shakes and tosses each day, but does not seem to
know how to play with a person. If you get on the floor with her, she
just wants to be held.
She is well-behaved in the house though has been known to carry off a
sock or chew on a plastic pen. She is not hyper at all.
She is afraid of thunderstorms, laundry or plastic bags being shaken,
and sometimes prefers to have a treat tossed to her rather than handed
to her--she can catch them!
She came to me via a shelter in WVA--was part of a "collection" taken
from a hoarder. As far as known, she spent her life chained to a tree
(with a logging chain, no less) I don't usually go out of state to pick
up dogs, but Schu caught my eye and would not let me go when I was at
the shelter dropping off items for a fundraiser. She seemed to know I
would help her.
I want her to find a just-right place or will keep her myself. I have
two small dogs, 12 yr and 13 yr though, and since Schu likes to pounce,
I am
Concerned she might pounce on them--not out of meanness, but
playfulness.
She has no meanness at all about her.
I have started walking her on leash at a park--she of course has no
leash experience, but will learn as she is eager to please. Her two park
friends are a beagle-mix and a cocker spaniel. She seems intrigued by
them and loves to greet their people.

Please let me know what you think about adoption possibilities. I am off
work Tuesday and Wednesday this week, so if you want to contact me after
5 p.m. or on those days, please use the cell #. Only have email at work.
Thank you,

Susan Jenkins
