My story

Mila is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), female, DOB: 7/26/18.
Willing to express dramatic shows of affection when she is comfortable and having a great bit of quirkiness, Mila who is almost always upbeat and cheerful, is very interested in her surroundings. Social and just so darn happy-to-be-present, Mila celebrates and shows her contentment with having people being nearby, acknowledging her presence, and sharing words of encouragement with her by straight up talking back and head bumping any who accept her affection.
If she’s not purring when you meet her, she, certainly, soon will be. A bit of a chatterbox, Mila has much to say and conversation is a must with her - she appreciates being talked to, and she’ll show her appreciation by talking right back. One of her more quirky ways of showing affection is licking and sometimes love-biting, which is why we don't recommend her to be in a home with young children. She doesn't mind being the center of attention, especially when she happens to be near her favorite people with all four paws on the ground or a perch; just typically not being held.
Not hesitant when it comes to initiating interactive play, Mila is lively and engaging with people she knows and trusts. She’s also curiously interested in her environment and will be looking for adventure wherever she can find it. Perfectly content to explore on her own too, she enjoys independently prowling and stalking shadows, dust bunnies, toys, or whatever is available. In all of these activities though she can get overstimulated, so it is important for her people to understand that a soft approach with redirection and encouragement goes a long way with this beautiful girl, particularly with interactive play and hands-on attention.
Born to extremely-protective mom, Nora, in July of 2018, Mila is the littermate of siblings, Dutch, Brascoe, Jetson, Billie Buttons, Oslo, and surrogate siblings, Draco and Eclipse. Happy, healthy cats from birth, Mila and Dutch have lived together since then and would do well living in a home together as a bonded pair. They are looking for a forever family who will welcome and embrace them as life-long, beloved companions and family members, and always appreciate them for the affectionate, definitely one-of-a-kind, endearingly quirky souls they are.
Mila is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of twelve (12). She is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and she’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.
Mila currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.
All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.
Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
