My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Callie
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: Approximately 1 year
WEIGHT: About 6 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other dogs, Unknown with cats but probably fine
CHILDREN: Should be fine with older, mature children (13 and older)
COAT: Long Coat

Please help us welcome Callie to the CRT foster program. The name Callie has Greek origin and it means “the most beautiful”. We think you will agree with us when we say this name fits her perfectly. Callie is a beautiful blonde long haired Chihuahua and one of the sweetest, easiest dogs you’ll ever meet.

Recently we got a call from Dallas Animal Services asking if we could take a beautiful Chihuahua that had been hit by a car. That little girl was Callie. We immediately picked her up at DAS and took her to our vet. The great news was that she had no major injuries, she was just shaken up a bit. Within a day or two of moving into her foster home, she settled in, and we knew she was as good as new! She was relaxed and happy and ready to live life to the fullest.

Callie loves the other small dogs in her foster home. She enjoys being around them and will run and play with the younger ones. She also loves to play with toys. Her favorite ones are the squeaky ones. She also loves to play fetch with balls and other toys. She loves to explore the back yard and will sun for hours! Callie has a medium energy level.

Callie also loves her people. She is a bit shy when she first meets you, but once she relaxes and gets to know you, she is a sweetheart! Callie is very cuddly and sweet and loves belly rubs. She especially loves to have her hair brushed. Callie is quiet – she doesn’t bark even when the other dogs are barking! Callie has a special way of walking – she looks like she is prancing. She is also polite. She will ask permission to get on the furniture and will not jump up until you give her permission to do so.

We don’t think Callie had ever lived in a house because she was not house broken at all when we got her. She didn’t even go on potty pads in the beginning. But she is smart and has learned quickly. She is now going on potty pads and will go outside when we let her out. Last night, for the first time ever, she scratched the door to let us know she had to go potty. Needless to say we were thrilled and praised her to the moon and back. She wants to please her family and we think she will be there on the potty side fairly soon. Callie is crate trained and will sleep in her crate at night. But she wanted us to tell you that she loves to cuddle so much that she would really enjoy sleeping in bed with you at night!

Callie is about 1 year old and weighs about 6 pounds. Her beautiful coat is stunning and really sets her apart. We believe that Callie would like to have another small dog in her forever home to play with. She would probably be fine as an only dog as long as her family spent a great deal of time with her. She would be fine in a home with older, mature children (13 and older).

Callie is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Callie is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?
