My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AVA is a sweet, docile, orange long-haired kitty about seven years old, who needs a little help with weight control. “There’s just more of me to love” she says. Yes, but twenty pounds of cat is a bit toooo much. She came to us after her former owner passed away. Apparently nobody in the family could take her. She is really a beautiful cat, with dark orange fur and a fluffy tail. She loves to be patted and likes belly rubs too.

She has been eating Science Diet “Light” food, but what she really needs is exercise. This is hard to supervise in a shelter environment, especially when she prefers to be a couch potato. Ava needs an adopter who will be her personal trainer, and encourage her to move, and give her lots of one-on-one attention. She would probably be OK with other cats in the house, and they might give her more incentive to move around.
